Hey, team, welcome to this episode of I'm Hormonal. I'm your host, bridget Walton, and this is a mini episode. Today I'm going to be talking about some of the resources that I like and that I recommend when it comes to goal setting, and I'll also have some discount codes for you on a couple of different products that I like that I trust that I use in case they support you in your goals, or rather, in reaching your goals in 2025. So this is the mini that is complimentary to the Tuesday episode that came out earlier this week, where I talked a bit longer form on goal setting and mindset how really planning like detailed planning, thinking ahead about how exactly you're actually going to accomplish your goals is so important. I know it's not rocket science, but a lot of us set goals that we don't meet, so maybe it's a helpful reminder for you, but a lot of us set goals that we don't meet, so maybe it's a helpful reminder for you. The first thing I want to talk about today is a book that I mentioned in the other episode too, called Atomic Habits by James Clear. This is a book that I first listened to because I'm an audiobook gal a couple of years ago, and ever since then I've been listening to it on repeat. Maybe if your local library has a or at least my local library has an app where I can rent different audio books or eBooks but check out your local library's app to see if they have the audio book that you can listen to for yourself or spend the what $14 on it in the app. I think it's a really great resource to have on hand. Surely, there are other books about habits that are great too, but what I really like about this one is he gives so many examples. It's a really easy, nice listen and it'll give you the opportunity to again take your goals and really break it down into bite-sized pieces of okay, how are you actually going to accomplish this? So check it out. You've probably seen the cover at one big bookstore that you've been to before and it'll definitely be worth the read.
Speaker 1:The other book that I thought well how long. I read this a couple of weeks ago while I was on my trip in Austria. This was another quick, good read that I thought was so interesting. It's called the Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin.
Speaker 1:What are you motivated by when it comes to inner expectations that you set for yourself versus outer expectations that others set for you. What does that mean? It kind of means that it can help you to learn a little bit about yourself in order to know okay, can I hold myself accountable for what I need to do? And you probably already have a sense for that without doing the quiz or anything. But it can also help to be a good guide for you in saying, okay, if whatever my goal is is something I really want to accomplish, well, I know that I'm going to have to get some sort of outside support. Maybe I'm going to join a running club, maybe I'm going to get a coach, maybe I'm going to start working with a nutritionist, whatever it is, so that you have that external expectation put on you if you're more likely to meet it. You don't have to buy the book. Really. You could go to actually I'll drop the link in the show notes for the quiz or you could probably just Google four tendencies quiz, gretchen Rubin, and it will pop right up for you and it'll tell you which one of the four tendencies you have, and hopefully that will be a good tool for you in understanding how you can set goals for yourself. Last note on this one, I thought it was helpful for me when I kind of understood what my partner's tendency was or what I have a pretty good suspicion. It is because it helps me understand what is he motivated by, what is he sort of given pause by, and how can I better communicate with him. So that's a little extra bonus there, maybe.
Speaker 1:Now, the other thing I want to mention and encourage you to do is consider what other resources or programs are out there that can support your specific goals, because I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that whatever it is that you've got on your list for 2025, or whatever it is that is currently front and center in your life, even if you're not a New Year's resolution person, then you're probably not the only person who's trying to work on that too. And how can you find people who are trying to do the same thing in order to have that mutual support for each other? I'll just mention two opportunities that you can have with me. If this is a good fit for you, I'm going to be doing a Stress Less in 2025 21-Day Meal Prep Training Program. This will be a totally virtual program that I will run in February, and it will be a good opportunity for you to practice meal prepping if that's something you again want to get in the swing of this year. We will also talk through, of course, how your hormones can benefit from meal prepping, what else you can include nutrition-wise that can support your hormones. So there will definitely be my usual hormone flavor on these things. Ugh, hormone flavor. That doesn't sound how I wanted it to, but you know what I mean. We're going to be talking about hormones.
Speaker 1:This is all to say, too, that whether or not this program is right for you, there probably is a program that's right for you out there, and I've definitely been a person who's like why would I pay $30 for this thing? Why would I pay $60? Why would I pay $150? Whatever it is for something when I can just figure it out myself, and that's valid. But I also lately have been kind of well pushing myself. That sounds like too much, but I've been pushing myself to really invest in resources, invest in support that will help me get to my goal. And so I think even just having that energetic exchange of spending money on a program or on a coach, that can of course increase your investment in it, increase kind of the stakes in a good way that motivates you to get to where you want to be. So keep that in mind. Do a little search on the interwebs on Instagram, tiktok, whatever you use, because surely there is something out there that'll be a good fit for you. If my 21-day meal prep training sounds like a good fit for you, then you can use code hormonal all lowercase, and you can save 20, 25, 20 bucks and 25 cents. Very, very tricky, I know. I will put a link in the show notes here so that you can either join the waitlist if the waitlist well, if the program registration isn't open yet, or if registration is open, then it'll be the registration link. So keep an eye out for that. The first day of the program will be February 3rd, which is a Monday, so you'll have to register by February 1st, which is the Saturday, in order to get in there on time. Okay, next up a couple of codes for you If you are looking to decrease your exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals.
Speaker 1:You've heard me say it before if you've listened to the podcast. Nixit is my go-to menstrual disc. I love it. I used to use a kind of classic bell-shaped menstrual cup. I love the disc because it is so much more comfortable to put in, to take out. There's no suction. Nixit, nixit, nixit, all the way. I love it so much. If you use code BridgetW15, so BridgetW15 on Nixit's website you'll save 15%. They use medical grade silicone, so you're not dealing with endocrine disruptors that are in other pads and tampons, you're not having to spend your money on pads and tampons and overall, I can't recommend Nix it enough.
Speaker 1:The next thing I want to remind you of is the Ladywell array of supplements that are out there. Ashley was on the podcast a couple of months ago. Ashley is the founder of Ladywell. They provide really high quality supplements that can help you to support your hormone oh, not just one hormone, but all of your hormones. I have been using their vanilla powder, their hormone balance powder, and I've been mixing it in with my coffee. For the most part, I'll use my little frother to mix it in there. I think it's really tasty, it has adaptogens. Frother to mix it in there. I think it's really tasty, it has adaptogens. It's a good way if you're looking for something to kind of sustain to include in your daily routine of things. So check out Ladywell and you can get 20% off with code Bridget20. Two left If gut health is on your list this year for perfecting, consider checking out Dirt Food Now. You can use code Bridget on Dirt Food's site to get 10% off I think it's 10% off and they make an alkalizing blend that will help your digestive health, as you guessed, to really run its smoothest and feel its best. Nika Founder is someone who is here in San Diego near me. She just is such a wealth of knowledge and she will be on the podcast in the coming months, so you will be able to learn a lot more about Dirt Food then, but check out Dirt Food's alkalizing blend in the meantime and use code Bridget for a discount on your purchase Now.
Speaker 1:Last but not least, this is another thing. If you've been here, you've heard me talk about how ovulation is the central part of your cycle, not your period, and understanding whether or not you're ovulating is so important. Why? Because if you're not ovulating, that's the first thing that you want to focus on. That's the goal right Ovulating whether or not you want to get pregnant. If you want to get pregnant, that will be important for you in 2025. Also, if you don't want to get pregnant, it's a good idea to understand when you're ovulating is it regular? So that you can avoid conception.
Speaker 1:Temperdrop is the temperature thermometer. That's the word for it. Tempdrop is the thermometer that I've been using for a little over two years now. Actually, I have it where it's in an armband, so before I go to sleep, I put the armband on. I turn on the thermometer. When I wake up in the morning, I just sync it with my phone, so I don't have to actually remember to do anything. I don't have to wake up and remember to put a thermometer in my mouth.
Speaker 1:So if you are looking to conceive in 2025, check out the link in the show notes for temp drop, because I think that's a really great tool to understand whether or not you're ovulating. I think that's a really great tool to understand whether or not you're ovulating Now. I hope that these resources are going to be helpful for you this year. If you have any questions, I would love to connect with you on Instagram. You can find me at Bridget Walton. Otherwise, I will see you here for the next one. Thank you so much for listening.
